I have an HP ProBook 4740s and just bought a Samsung SD300 LED monitor for an extended display.

As soon as I plug the cable into my laptop (even with the monitor's power off), my laptop display goes black. The extended screen does not show my laptop screen info at all - so I have to unplug the cable to be able to do anything.

Severly frustrated! I have installed the driver provided on the DVD which came with the monitor.

Both Display adaptors are on the most updated drivers.

Please assist

Hello. I have purchased VR Oculus Rift CV1 - I´m trying to connect it to my laptop. Everything works fine (sensor via USB 3.0, Headset 1/2 wire - via USB 3.0) but not HDMI connection from Headset. I can hear sound in Headset´s headphones - but no video - and Headset also waiting for HDMI to connect. 

- I´ve downloaded and instaled newest drivers for Chipset, Bios, Graphics and several Audio(directly from Realtek then back to 2015´s HP driver). 

Nothing helped. 

- in sound settings (right click on sound icon on bottom right) and then "playback settings" - there is no HDMI displayed. I don´t remember if it was in past really... I´ve marked both options to display hidden and unplugged devices... 

So... 

Can someone give me some advice? Many thanks in advance.

 

P.S: Nor do I know even if that HDMI port is being from motherboard or from GPU (Nvidia GF GTX950m)... 

- because Oculus Rift require port from GPU...

I have a work issued ZBook 15 G3 with a Nvidia M1000M, and 2 HP E232 attached to it.

 

When using Visual Studio 15, returning from a locked computer or dragging the window into the 3rd screen will cause it to completely black out.  The annoying work around is to drag it back and forth a few times until it displays.

 

If the Window is across two screens, half of the Window will be black, and the other half will properly show Visual Studio properly.

 

I am pretty sure this is a video driver issue and not a Visual Studio issue, as Visual Studio isn't locking up or entering a bad state.

 

Please fix this, it is super annoying.

i AM UTTERLY APPALLED AT THE POOR QUALITY TECH SUPPORT PROVIDED BY HP!

I was on a chat support service about 30 days ago which now seems to have dissapeared, and was troubleshotting a faulty keyboard for daughters laptop. I was told a new keyboard would be sent to me and 30+ days later I have no keyboard and have been on hold for hours trying to talk to a human being. This is really bad support. I need to get a new keyboard sent oput to my (under 1 year old laptop which is under wsupport agreement). I find it shameful that it requires hours of being on hold to get any help.

If someoen from HP is reading this PLEASE PLEASE get in touch with me as I'm so frustrated.

Nothing the community can do for me. I'm one of many HP Envy owners with broken hinges on my computer. I took it to my computer repair store and they won't even touch HP Envys with broken hinges. They've seen dozens of them and said that the HP warranty doesn't cover them because they've all been "abused'. What a load of crap! The reality is that the hinge system is connected with a cheap piece of plastic that breaks regardless of how carefully you treat your computer.

 

So, HP, what are we supposed to do? Shell out close to $1000 every 18 months? Continue to buy your over-priced, poorly-engineered plastic crap?  Trust us, this computer is the "envy" of no-one. Contact me if you ever decide to start treating your customers like a valuable component in the success of HP.

Very recently I've had a pop-up appearing on my screen for only a fraction of a second before disappearing, and it only seems to do it when I charge my laptop. I troubleshooted a couple of other things, to see if it was an open browser or something like that, but everytime I've plugged the charger in, the pop-up appears not long after. It then shows intermittently while the laptop is charging, but it comes and goes so fast that I can't work out what the box says. I believe it's just a blank white box, about only a quarter the size of my screen - but I can never read the writing on the top of it, so I don't know which program it's from. Basically, I just want to know if this has happened to other people; I don't want it to be a virus or anything like that.

 

Oh, and as for any changes in my laptop, the only major thing I can recall doing before all this started happening was doing a virus scan using AVG. Otherwise, everything was like normal, and the previous times I've scanned my laptop, this hasn't happened.

I have an issue which you might can help with. I have an HP2000 laptop, recently low voltage affected it so a thin horizontal line appeaered across the screen, after awhile it stop recognising the mouse after using it for 5mns, then this morning i saw a huge horizontal line across it, what can I do, can it be fixed?

I have a HP ENVY  Product: E1P14AV Model: 17t-j100.  The left hinge was broken and the fan locked up so I took it apart and found dozens of little pieces of plastic and loose gromets inside the machine.  A gromet was lodged in the fan causing the fan problem.  The left hinge was broken loose and was so hard to operate that it is no wonder it broke loose.  To adjust the hinge I had to remove the touchscreen.  After adjusting the hinge, I cleaned out all the plastic,  secured the hinge and put everything back together. It all works well except for the touchscreen.  The computer does not seem to recognize that there is a touchscreen. In settings I get the message that "no pen or touch input is available for this display. " It worked fine prior to my working on the system.  Please advise what I should do to resolve this issue!  Thanks for any help!!!

After updating to windows 10, When I start my computer after 5hrs or overnight from last switchoff it is not detecting graphics card . i can see it in device manager under hidden items only. And when i start it causes BSOD and dump file analysis is below

Hello,

 

I am having some issues with the touchpad/clickpad for the HP Probook 455 G4. We have purchased ten of these machines and I have updated the touchpad drivers for these laptops, but have been experiencing some issues getting the touchpad's right-click functionality to work consistently. If I am not mistaken, it looks like the right-click is activated with two fingers pressing down on the right-hand side of the touchpad, but I can only intermittently get it to work. I have changed the delay to none, but still have issues. It is such a simple feature that I am unsure what I am doing wrong. Please help.

I have an expensive HP Envy 17, Laptop.
There is a main problem with it and a query.

The first is that the Coating of the Touchpad mouse is coming off. This is a known fault that affects HP Envy Models.
The Touchpad should be repaired or replaced, either by it being called back or a replacement park sent to the consumer.
The date the warranty expires does not have any bearing on this' as it is a manufacturer fault. In the UK we are covered by Legislation that deals with faulty product, "Consumer Rights Act 2015". A product has to be of satisfactory quality and fit for the purpose to which it was designed.

I am hoping HP to respond to this and resolve the problem for everyone. They faulty Touchpad has to be fixed, no is not an answer. I have a good legal team, if not.

I would much appreciate if you can help me with this issue I have with the Function keys. I could change F1-10 keys to the most standard format; however, the Function arrow key combination has not been changed. Is there any way to reasign the page up/down key to other location? I'm a heavy old excel user, and having to press the control+FN+Page Up/Down key everytime I want to navigage a spreadsheet is driving me nuts.

Hi, I bought an HP Pavilion 17-ab011nl on April, but after few days I noticed that the display shows some strange colored spots. I sent it the first time to the assistance, they change the display pannel and sent it back, but the problem was still there. So I called again and sent the pc for the second time, they changed again the display pannel, but again the problem still persists.

Everytime they've changed the pannel, the spots have changed position and color.
So, I have to surrender because it's an irreparable defective, or is the assistance that couldn't repair well the pannel?

Hello,

 

I have an Elitebook 1040 G3 with the Ultraslim docking station (D9Y32AA). Prior to the Creators update being installed I could insert the computer into the docking station, press the power button on the docking station, and both my desktop screens would turn on and it would be ready to use immediately.

 

After the update, both the screens stay black even after pressing the power button. They stay black until the computer lid is opened and closed.

 

Any ideas?

Hello,

 

Prior to the Creators update my computer worked perfectly with the MS wireless display adapter that I have. Since the update I have not been able to connect at all. The computer can see the adapter. When I click to connect the display shows the name of my computer, but after a minute or so it gives up.

 

I have worked through the MS troubleshooting page without success. I have updated the display adapter firmware, updated the computer's display driver and intel wireless driver, checked the wifi display band but the result is always the same - the "Failed to connect" message.

 

Any other ideas please?

The front screen cracked on my ENVY TouchSmart M7-K010DX 17.3. 

 

The display seems to be working just find, it's just that the glass is cracked. 

 

From what I looked up, it seems I only need to replace the 'digitizer' , front glass, and not the LCD display. However, It also read that for certain models, The digitizer is attatched to the LCD, so I need to get a part that replaces both. 

 

Anyone know what it is, for my specific model?
